Łukasz’ biggest win as a professional came in the 2017 Tour of California, where he took the overall victory from Chris Froome. In total, he has compiled eleven wins in his career to date. Łukasz Witt-Michałowski (born 25 March 1973) is a Polish former footballer who played as a midfielder. He was capped 39 times for the Poland national football team, and was selected in their squads for the 2002 and 2006 World Cups. Witt-Michałowski also played at the 1996 Summer Olympics and at Euro 2000. He retired from professional football in 2006 and later managed Pogoń Szczecin.
Witt-Michałowski was born in Kraków, then part of Poland, to a family of athletes; his father, Kazimierz Witt-Michałowski, competed in decathlon and his mother, Elżbieta Michałowska, won silver medals in shot put at the European Championships. Łukasz Witt-Michałowski began playing football with local side Warta Kraków as a youngster before joining Wisła Kraków’s youth setup. He made his senior debut with Wisła during the 1990–91 season, appearing as a substitute in a 3–1 home victory over GKS Katowice on 24 May 1991. A year later he helped Wisła win the Polish championship title.
In 1994 Witt-Michałowski moved abroad to play for Italian Serie A side Udinese Calcio; after making just one appearance for Udinese he transferred to Spanish La Liga outfit Atlético Madrid midway

Witt-Michałowski has played for Poland at various junior levels. He first appeared at the IIHF World Championship as a member of Poland’s under-20 team.
